Located on the southern slopes of the Monts de Vaucluse and facing the Luberon, the vineyard stretches over more than 50 acres within the A.O.C Côtes du Ventoux region.

The farm dates back to the 14 th century and was known in the area for its pigeon house that was used as a lookout tower during the Religious Wars between the Protestants and Catholics.

Its has been owned and managed by the Marreau family for one century and is now run by the 4 th generation of wine growers working this Provence vineyard.

The owner and winemarker, Gérard Marreau, is a trained oenologist who serves as the vice-président of the syndicat Général des Vignerons des Côtes du Ventoux. His artfully crafted wines display the technical skill and passion that he brings to his winemaking and appellation.

The grape varieties grown on the property are those typical of the Rhone Valley.

We attach a lot of importance to the way we manage our soil and tend our vines, pruning them hard and removing some of the grapes in June and July to help us concentrate on quality rather than quantity.

2004 Domaine de la Bastidonne Côtes du Ventoux Rosé ($ 11.99)
" As rosés go the 2003 vintage was dark and big-bodied. The more recent vintage is a spectacularly fragant lighter-colored dry rosé with better acidity and lower alcohol. Made with equal parts of Syrah and Grenache grapes by a producer who doesn't treat rosé as an afterthought, it's one of the best southern French rosés to hit the Columbus market" Jon Christensen.
